Bethesda E3 Conference: What Should We Expect?

Today is the very first year that Bethesda Game Studios will have a large presence at the world wide renowned E3 (Entertainment Expo) convention.  The convention will be held from the 16th to the 18th of June this year. Bethesda are one of my very favourite game developers because they have given us some of gaming’s most iconic IPs. But what can we expect from them at E3 this year? Well we can assume that it is going to be huge and exciting because some of those iconic IPs I mentioned are in need of another installment. Here are some of the things that I am going to be looking for, and I hope that you agree:

Prey 2:

This is, quite possibly one of the most unfortunate games to ever be cancelled. I mean, the game sets you as a bounty hunter in a futuristic, dystopian setting where you have access to a large array of weapons and gadgets. No on is going to argue that that sounds pretty awesome. Unfortunately though there is definitely no chance of this ever being put on shelves, apparently, according to Bethesda who were publishing the game. Just have a look at the video below to get an idea of how amazing it would have been!

Dishonored 2:

I am a massive fan of stealth games and so, naturally, I am a massive fan of Dishonored. The game managed to mix stylized and arty visuals with intricate, first-person stealth gameplay and the results were staggering. You could essentially say  that it changed the way in which we think about stealth games. It should also be noted that it felt more like a traditional Thief game than the Thief reboot ever did.

More than anything, Dishonored 2 is a something we could very likely see in June due to the massive success of the first game and the fact that Bethesda have been teasing us about it for a while now.

Fallout 4:

Ok, so Dishonored is all well and good but this is really the big one, a new Fallout game. I have so many fond memories from Fallout 3 (never extensively played New Vegas) from my first encounter with a Deathclaw to initially starting the game, everything felt special and unique. I think one of the things that I loved about starting Fallout 3 was the fact that I was already used to playing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for hours on end so having a game that had similar gameplay but with a completely different setting felt like a breath of fresh air.

Possibly the most exciting thought is thinking what could be done for a game like this with modern hardware. Even Skyrim, which was released back in 2011, ran on which we could consider now to be very dated hardware, and even then it still kinda looked good (especially with mods). It’s exciting to see what boundaries Bethesda is going to push with the release of this game.

It should not be forgotten that Bethesda is also working on a reboot of the famous Doom franchise with a game aptly named – Doom! We have had barely any information regarding this game and no screenshots wither but what we do have is the trailer from Quakcon last year which can be viewed below:

The Elder Scrolls VI!?!!??!?!

Ok so this is a (very) long shot considering Bethesda’s schedule for releasing games has always been a Fallout, then an Elder Scrolls, then a Fallout and so on, but there is maybe a very slim chance that we could be seeing some of a new Elder Scrolls game this June. Maybe? Please? I don’t care what they show, all they have to do to whet my appetite is to tell us they there is definitely a new Elder Scrolls game in production and that it will arrive sometime in the next couple of years maybe. Here’s hoping!

Well there are some of the things that I am excited about for Bethesda’s first proper E3 conference this year. Have I missed anything out that you are, in particular, looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below!
