A mulitplayer aspect, co-op or otherwise is definitely something that CD Projeckt Red are looking into for their new game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. While speaking to RPS, they stated that it is an idea that is “hardly set in stone” but still a distinct possibility. Marketing head, Tracey Williams spoke on the matter:
“That’s something Adam mentioned in the context of us always looking at the best ways to make the games we’re currently working on. So multiplayer’s certainly something we’ll investigate, but it’s not currently set in stone for Witcher,”
It was also revealed in an interview with Kotaku that the game will in no way being using DRM, so a constant connection to the internet is not needed, which will be a relief for a lot of people. DRM was stated as being counter-productive and that piracy would eventually occur anyway, with DRM or not.
“But you can’t do anything about it, so. We want to give the best user experience possible. When we removed DRM, people on those torrents were actually asking people not to download our game, because we [weren’t using DRM].”
