HTC First – The First Phone with Facebook Home Built In

After months of collaboration between HTC and Facebook, their new smartphone has finally been announced. At first glance it seems like a typical skinned Android phone but it’s said to have “deep social media integration”. The First comes pre-installed with the new ‘Facebook Home’ and available in four colours, red, black, white and pale blue.

The HTC First is as close as we’re going to get to an official Facebook Phone, with CEO Peter Chou hopping up on stage at Facebook’s Android Home event to reveal the handset to the world [techradar]

The specs include:

  • Dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  •  5MP rear camera,
  • Android 4.1 JellyBean
  •  4.3-inch 720p display.

It’s a mid range phone but well worth the price tiny price tag. It will be available from April 12th for just $100 on AT&T, so expect it to be around £100 in the UK. Good news to us in the UK: it will be coming to EE but with no release date or price tag confirmed yet.

I’ve tried to be unbiased whilst writing this, does the world really need a Facebook phone? Excited, Shocked, Don’t care? Let us know below…
