Element 14, one of the two company’s producing the single-board marvel, has stated that they’re moving production back to the UK to meet demand and minimise supply chain issues.
Claire Doyle, Element14 head of Raspberry Pi (what a title!), told The Financial Times: “We have done everything we can to ensure we keep our supply chain stocked. We believe that a UK creation should be produced in its home country and since partnering with Sony we have been delighted with the product’s quality.”
Great news for Wales. It’s also rumoured that the other producer and distributor of the Pi, Electrocomponents, might also be moving production back to the UK. [computerworld]
