We recently learned that Ubisoft plan to release the Assassin’s Creed games on a constant annual basis. There are undoubtedly going to be people who think that this is a very unwise decision, especially considering that there are many gamers already growing tired of the franchise.
Head of Ubisoft Montreal, Yannis Mallat, told Eurogamer that they plan to carry on making the games for a release each year. Assassin’s Creed III proved to be the most popular game in the series to date, so he understandably believes that fans are always eager for more.
“It’s our breakthrough. When you have quality content, the frequency of coming out with the game is not an issue at all.”
“On the contrary, people expect more and more of that content. So it’s natural to be able to provide that content. The gamers are happy and it’s our job to make them happy.”
Ubisoft have several different teams that work on the Assassin’s Creed games, so they are sure that they will be able to release the games annually and still keep the good quality of the past games.
