Assassin’s Creed III introduced some new sea-based gameplay elements to the series and according to Ubisoft, we are going to be riding the waves an awful lot more in the next installment, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Ubisoft say that a staggering 40% of the story missions are going to take place on the sea. A new “horizon” system also points out opportunities for aspiring pillagers and the player will be able to take out his or her spyglass at any time in order to look for these opportunities on the horizon.
“Mission wise, land missions will represent approximately 60% of the game and naval ones 40%,” the Q&A states. “But if you take the global experience that players will leave with ACIVBF we’re more talking about 50-50.
“The Seamless, systemic open-world system (Horizon System) packed full of sea and underwater activities will represent a big part of the game.”
The Assassin’s Creed franchise is beginning to show its age with many people thinking that Ubisoft are releasing half-hearted games at too quick of a rate. However, these new features sound interesting and can hopefully bring some people back to the games.
