According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, the much anticipated Watch Dogs is being developed with the PC in mind. Guillemot spoke to Inside Gamer and stated that consoles are now on the receiving end of the port process for once.
Guillemot also spoke of the benefits when developing with the PC in mind:
“We expect fewer problems with porting games to the PS4 than the PS3, which had a completely different infrastructure,” Guillemot said. “Previously, we developed games first on the Xbox 360 and then translated them onto the PS3. It took a lot of time and money to port.”
The PS4 uses a PC orientated architecture and if the new Xbox follows suit, it could result in more stable games for everyone. This could essentially mean the end of bad ports, with the majority of game developers leading on the PC. However, this isn’t to say that things might become more difficult in the future.
